The Energy Infrastructure Forum is organised by the European Commission and takes place annually in Copenhagen, Denmark.
It was set up in 2015 as part of the energy union strategy, which aims to remove technical and regulatory barriers to energy flowing freely across the EU, to discuss major issues relating to infrastructure and EU energy policy.
It brings together all stakeholders with an interest in these issues, including representatives of EU countries, transmission system operators (TSOs), national energy regulatory authorities, project promoters, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E), the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG), the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), as well as the European Parliament, European Committee of the Regions, European Economic and Social Committee, and NGOs.
The forum serves as a platform for policy-makers and stakeholders to exchange views, and aims to ensure that new EU legislation related to energy infrastructure is goal-oriented, operational and comprehensive.

2020
The annual Energy Infrastructure Forum is organised by the European Commission and takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark. Representatives of the EU institutions, transmission system operators, project promoters, regulators, energy companies, NGOs and civil society and the financing community meet to discuss the challenges of developing Europe’s energy infrastructure and building an internal energy market.
2019
The aim of the 2019 edition of the forum was to look into sector coupling and the role of energy infrastructure in the European long-term vision for a climate neutral economy, the regulatory support for innovation, security of supply and stakeholder engagement and new ways of cooperation for transmission and distribution system operators in the future energy system.
2018
Among other interesting panels, there was a high-level session on “Shaping the digital transformation of our energy networks” . The 2018 Renewables Grid Initiative award for innovative approaches to grid planning and development was also presented.
2017
There was a specific focus on the financing of energy infrastructure, as well as updates on the TEN-E evaluation process and follow-up sessions to the previous year's conclusions on Cross-Border-Cost-Allocation, and issues of public acceptance. The 2017 Renewables Grid Initiative award for innovative approaches to grid planning and development was also announced.
