President von der Leyen and Executive Vice-President Šefčovič chair third Clean Transition Dialogue with a focus on clean tech

Participation of Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, and Maroš Šefčovič, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, in the Clean Transition Dialogue on clean tech

Tomorrow (February 22), President Ursula von der Leyen and Executive Vice-President Maroš Šefčovič will chair the third Clean Transition Dialogue. Following last year's discussion dedicated to hydrogen and energy-intensive industries, this third roundtable will bring together 26 representatives of key strategic clean technology sectors.

Representatives of both large and start-up companies from the battery, semiconductor, wind, solar, carbon capture and storage and electric vehicles charging sectors will be present, among others. Social partners and financial institutions, including Thomas Östros, Vice President of the European Investment Bank are also participating.

Participants will discuss how to best strengthen the competitiveness of the European industry in strategic clean tech sectors, notably through the necessary regulatory enabling conditions, access to financing to leverage private investment and initiatives to secure skilled workforce for both the green and digital transitions.

As announced by the Commission President in her annual State of the European Union speech, the Commission is organising the Clean Transition Dialogues to prepare for the next stage of the European Green Deal, in collaboration and cooperation with industry. At tomorrow’s Clean Transition Dialogue on clean tech, President von der Leyen will deliver an opening speech that you can follow on EbS+, followed by an exchange of views led by the Executive Vice-President.
