The latest “EU Energy in Figures” energy statistical pocketbook (2023 version) has been published by the European Commission. Available online – with a printed version to be available for order soon – the publication provides comparable statistics per year and per EU country for many different aspects of the energy sector. For example, this edition highlights the global leadership of the EU on renewables, with 19% of the EU’s energy-mix made up from renewables in 2021.

Achieving the EU’s energy and climate objectives and reinforcing affordability, security and sustainability in Europe’s energy sector requires up-to-date and reliable data. The data contained in this pocketbook is drawn from several sources including Eurostat and other European Commission services, the European Environment Agency and the International Energy Agency.

The publication provides energy statistics for all EU countries and the EU as a whole, covering areas such as energy balances, energy production and consumption, electricity capacities, energy prices, main energy indicators, socio-economic data and the impact of the energy sector on the climate. You can also find an energy profile for each EU country, as well as details of each country's progress towards the EU's 2030 climate and energy targets under the European Green Deal.
