Events and news

The Initiative regularly brings coal+ regions together, and facilitates dialogue among these regions and European decision-makers. This includes organising key events which have entailed working group meetings, political dialogues, and high-level conferences.

The fifth Annual Political Dialogue (APD) will take place in Velenje and streamed online.This will be an occasion for stakeholders from all EU coal, peat, lignite and oil shale regions – the coal+ regions – to gather and discuss common challenges they face in today’s fast changing energy landscape.The programme will include two days of high-level, strategic and political discussions on what EU coal+ regions are grappling with on their path to climate neutrality, and how the energy transition can proceed in a just and inclusive manner.

Event information

Since 2017, the Initiative for Coal Regions in Transition has organised conferences, event sessions, virtual meetings, and Working Group meetings to advance just transition together. The Initiative furthermore hosts webinars to accompany the release of each of its toolkits. Presentations and recordings are available below, and in the Knowledge Products database.
