The Commission and the European External Action Service presented a new strategy for an EU external energy engagement in May 2022, as part of the REPowerEU package.

The package, adopted in 2019, will help to decarbonise EU’s energy system in line with the European Green Deal objectives.

In order to meet the EU’s new energy and climate targets for 2030, Member States are required to establish a 10-year NECP for the period from 2021 to 2030.
