The Commission has today published a call for evidence as part of the preparation for a delegated regulation on ways to help credit institutions identify how they can provide higher financing volumes for the energy renovation of the worst-performing buildings. Based on Article 17 of the recast Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, the secondary legislation will outline a comprehensive portfolio framework for voluntary use by financial institutions. This portfolio should include actions to increase lending, but also protect vulnerable households and outline best practices to encourage lenders to prioritise the worst-performing buildings.
Interested stakeholders are invited to submit their feedback for 4 weeks until the call closes on 5 November 2024. The replies will feed into the Commission’s deliberations, with the next step in the process being the launch of a 3-month public consultation before the end of the year.
Feedback received will be published on the Commission website and therefore must adhere to the feedback rules.
