IEA and EC workshop: “EU and LAC: how can we collaborate towards a just energy transition?”

latin america energy event

The European Commission and the International Energy Agency (IEA) is organising a workshop “European Union and Latin America: how can we collaborate towards a just energy transition?” on Wednesday 21 February 2024, from 16.30 – 19.00. The workshop will take place in the Schuman room of the Berlaymont building (Rue de la Loi 200, Brussels).

The workshop will be opened by Cristina Lobillo Borrero, Director of the Energy Task Force at the European Commission.

During this workshop, the IEA will present its recently published report, "Latin America Energy Outlook." The report delves into the evolving energy needs of the region and explores efficient ways to power growing economies while aligning with climate goals. It also emphasizes the additional measures required to fulfil the energy and climate commitments made by Latin American countries.

In turn, the European Commission will present the latest developments in energy cooperation between the EU and Latin America. To conclude the workshop, there will be time for debate and discussions on how both regions—the EU and Latin America—can collaborate towards the energy transition.

The workshop will be held in person with the option to follow online. There will be interpretation of English and Spanish.

For interested parties, wishing to attend either in person or online, please register at the following EU-Survey by 19 February 2024.

The video-recording is available at DG Energy’s YouTube channel.
