European Citizens' Energy Efficiency Panel – closing session

The European Citizens’ Panel on Energy Efficiency brings together 150 randomly selected European citizens from all 27 EU countries to discuss the benefits and challenges of increasing energy efficiency in Europe and how households, businesses, and communities can become more energy efficient.

With this objective, the participants met twice since February 2024 and discussed around various themes - buildings, energy infrastructure and transports - and the obstacles holding back further progress on energy efficiency. They looked at these themes from various angles – from social justice and the global perspective, to the different interests and opinions of the diverse parties involved and how to overcome them. Draft recommendations have been explored and will be finalised by the Panel participants at this third session. The recommendations will feed into upcoming related initiatives of the European Commission.

Follow the live stream on 12 and 14 April.

To join the debate, citizens are welcome to post their contributions on the Citizens’ Engagement Platform.
