Energy stakeholder dialogues

The Directorate-General for Energy organises with the Commission Representations in selected EU countries dialogues that offer national stakeholders the opportunity to exchange on key energy-related topics with Commission representatives.

The first dialogue took place in 2021 in the context of the new legislative package aiming to reduce emissions by at least 55% by 2030. The package covers a wide range of policy areas, including energy efficiency, renewables, energy performance of buildings and more.

These topics became even more relevant in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022. The Commission's communication REPowerEU: Joint European Action for more affordable, secure and sustainable energy action for more affordable, secure and sustainable energy, published on 8 March, focused on the security of supply, energy prices and gas storage, which were addressed in the stakeholder's dialogues of 2022.

The 2023 dialogues mainly focus on the proposed reform of the Electricity Market Design. However, depending on each EU country’s specificities, other topics of particular interest are covered. It is notably the case of the energy performance of buildings, renewables and hydrogen.
