The European Commission set up the Energy and Managing Authorities (EMA) network in 2014, in the framework of the Cohesion Policy funding. The aim is to support authorities in charge of the implementation of energy-related programmes in promoting energy efficiency, renewable energy and smart energy infrastructure, as well as energy-related research and innovation.

Meeting twice a year since 2015, the network acts as an informal platform for exchanging information, sharing good practices, experiences and latest developments and joint work on specific issues through dedicated working groups.
