24 May 2018

Location

Rome, Italy

On 24 May 2018 a national roundtable on financing energy renovation of buildings in Italy took place in Rome. The event was organised in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development of Italy, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development, the Italian Banking Association and the UN Environment Finance Initiative. It was a follow up of the regional conference on Financing Energy Renovation of buildings in Italy, Croatia and Slovenia, which took place in Milan on 16 November 2017 as part of the Sustainable Energy Investment Forums, which support the implementation of the Smart Finance for Smart Buildings initiative in the EU Member States.

The roundtable aimed to initiate a dialogue between key Italian stakeholders on how to improve access to finance for energy efficiency investments, and to identify common objectives and potential improvements to be made in the current policy framework and business practices. The working sessions focused on private home renovation, de-risking energy efficiency investment, green mortgages and the energy renovation of public buildings.
