Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, will be in Portugal until Friday (12 May) to hold discussions on energy policy with local decision-makers and stakeholders.
On Thursday (11 May), Commissioner Simson will participate and deliver a keynote speech at the Sustainability and Society Forum, Matosinhos, Porto, which will also be attended by Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira. Later, Commissioner Simson will meet with the Portuguese Minister of Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, and the Portuguese Secretary of State for Energy and Climate, Ana Fontoura Gouveia.
In Matosinhos, she will also meet bilaterally with the Mayor of the town and President of the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities, Luisa Salgueiro. In the afternoon, the Commissioner will visit WindFloat Atlantic, the world’s first semi-submersible floating offshore wind farm, in Viana do Castelo.
On Friday (12 May), the Commissioner will be in Lisbon to meet with members of the European Affairs and Energy and Environment Committees of the national Parliament. She will then participate in a roundtable with energy stakeholders, organised by the Portuguese Energy Agency ADENE, to discuss the internal energy market and the implementation of REPowerEU objectives.
In the afternoon, Commissioner Simson will visit the Inclusive Energy Community, a partnership project of Greenvolt, the Cascais Municipality and Santa Casa da Misericórdia aimed to support low-income households and a nursery in reducing energy bills
