Commissioner Kadri Simson is in Mozambique from today until Thursday 23 November. She will attend the first edition of the EU-Mozambique Global Gateway Investment Forum taking place on Wednesday (21 November) in Maputo and meet with national authorities to discuss the clean energy transition, cooperation and investments in the sector.
At the EU-Mozambique Global Gateway Investment Forum, Commissioner Simson will deliver an opening speech and participate in the signing ceremony of the Global Gateway Flagships. On Thursday, the Commissioner will visit the Mafalala Museum, an EU co-funded project which acts as a space for community engagement and artistic activities.
Also on Wednesday, the Commissioner will hold a dialogue with the Youth Sounding Board, an inclusive engagement mechanism involving local partners to promote dialogue between the EU and the youth in Mozambique. She will also meet representatives of the energy sector to discuss LNG projects in Mozambique, as well as the importance to move towards renewable sources of energy.
While in Maputo, the Commissioner will hold a series of bilateral meetings, including with the President of the Republic of Mozambique, Felipe Jacinto Nyusi; the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Mozambique, Verónica Macamo; and the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Carlos Zacarias.
