Commissioner Simson at International Renewable Energy Agency Assembly to foster global cooperation on renewables

Visit of Kadri Simson, European Commissioner, to the United Arab Emirates

Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, is in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, until Thursday (18 April) to participate in the 14th session of the Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), a key annual meeting to foster cooperation at the global level on the uptake of renewable energy.

This year's meeting comes after the success of the Global Pledge for Renewables and Energy Efficiency spearheaded by the EU and the COP28 Presidency, the United Arab Emirates, which was endorsed by more than 120 countries and included in the COP conclusions to which all Parties commit.

On Wednesday, Commissioner Simson has several speaking engagements including a scene-setting panel at the 4th World Energy Transition Day High-level plenary session on tripling renewables capacity, a Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA) Ministerial Dialogue dedicated to financing, a Ministerial Roundtable on the geopolitics of energy security, and the Ministerial Roundtable on infrastructure for the energy transition. On Thursday, she will deliver keynote speeches at the plenary session on accelerating the development of bankable renewable energy projects and at the plenary session on policies and skills for an accelerated energy transition.

All IRENA Assembly panels will be livestreamed.
