The European Commission has launched a call for expressions of interest for concrete examples of projects, partnerships and replicable solutions that can help accelerate affordable, high-quality home renovations across the EU.
The move comes under the Better Homes Partnerships (BHP) initiative, led by the Commission’s Directorate-General for Energy, which was outlined as part of the European Affordable Housing Plan and the Citizen’s Energy Package. It aims to strengthen cooperation among public and private actors in order to support the delivery of renovation projects, decarbonise heating and cooling, and scale up innovative solutions across EU countries.
The call invites stakeholders to submit expressions of interest for initiatives that contribute to one or more of the following areas
- demand flexibility through building renovation
- stimulating and simplifying renovations
- deploying innovative financial instruments
- implementing and scaling efficient heating and cooling solutions
The call is open to a broad range of stakeholders, including public authorities, housing owners and providers, private sector actors, financial institutions, civil society organIsations and multi-stakeholder consortia
The Commission is looking to identify initiatives that demonstrate concrete delivery, stakeholder engagement, scalability and potential for replication, while contributing to more affordable housing.
The deadline for submissions is 21 August 2026 at 23:59 CET.
