The Energy Performance of Buildings Directive in practice – The role of building performance data for Member States

The EU Building Stock Observatory (EU BSO) and the OBSERVE project hosted a joint webinar to help Member States turn the provisions of the recently published EPBD guidance into practical action. The focus was on the crucial role of building performance data in enabling effective national implementation of the directive.

The session covered the operationalisation of key EPBD provisions, including Article 16 (data requirements), Article 22 (national databases), and Article 3 (National Building Renovation Plans). Participants discovered how EU BSO and OBSERVE can support national strategies, streamline reporting obligations, and improve compliance, while also learning from practical examples of robust data governance and integration with EU-level tools.

With the EPBD guidance published in June 2025, the event fell at a time when Member States were entering a decisive phase of transposition and implementation. This webinar provided timely insights and bridges for EU-level policy frameworks and national practices, fostering a coherent and coordinated implementation.
