Electricity network codes and guidelines
Objective of the consultation
According to Article 59(3) of the Electricity Regulation (EU) 2019/943 and Article 6(1) of the Gas Regulation (EC) No 715/2009, the Commission has to establish a priority list (every three years in electricity and annually for gas) identifying the areas to be included in the development of network codes for electricity and gas. Before establishing such priority list, the Commission needs to consult the relevant stakeholders.
The objective of this consultation is to consult stakeholders on the priorities for the development of network codes and guidelines for the period 2020-2023 in electricity and for 2020 in gas, as well as beyond these periods.
Network codes help make the EU internal energy market better connected, and they are of key importance for maintaining the security of energy supply across Europe. To meet opportunities and challenges of evolving energy systems, the Commission has identified two key areas in which network codes and guidelines can be developed, notably cybersecurity and demand side flexibility.
