Commissioner Simson at IEA Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency in Kenya

Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, is in Nairobi, Kenya, today and tomorrow to participate in the 9th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency organised by the International Energy Agency (IEA). This is a crucial forum for the EU to continue its work on implementing the Global Pledge launched at COP28 to triple global renewable energy capacity and double the rate of energy efficiency improvements by 2030.

At the conference today, the Commissioner delivered welcome remarks. Later today, she will deliver closing remarks and participate in a series of panel discussions. Tomorrow, she will participate in the Ministerial roundtable and in a dialogue with Ministers and business leaders on public-private partnerships to boost energy efficiency.

In the margins of the conference today, Commissioner Simson will also hold a bilateral meeting with Davis Chirchir, the Cabinet Secretary at the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum of Kenya and participates in the launch event of the EU-Kenya energy project "Green Resilient Electricity System" that is supported under the Global Gateway, Europe's investment strategy for the world.
